The intention of this blog is to have an open and broad discussion about topics related to transport phenomena, everything that is related to: momentum transfer, heat transfer and mass transfer. I believe that the best way to start this open discussion is by reviewing and commenting my collection of the solutions to all problems in the “Transport Phenomena” book published by Bird, Stewart and Lightfoot. In particular the first edition, since my collection was started by mid 1990’s.
The problem illustrates a way to predict thermal conductivities based on the Chapman-Enskog theory. However, engineers use polynomial regressions based on experimental data.
